Posted August 17, 2018 05:53:06A man who killed his girlfriend’s wife, then his girlfriend, and then himself in the house has admitted killing his wife and his girlfriend.
The 33-year-old man from Queensland has been charged with first-degree murder in the deaths of his wife’s mother-in-law and girlfriend.
Police allege he killed his wife, his girlfriend and himself in a house in the state’s north on July 31.
They said the man was found dead with a shotgun inside the house.
He was taken to the nearby police station but was released after being advised he was under the influence of drugs.
Detective Senior Sergeant Scott Stacey said the investigation showed the man had no previous history of mental health problems.
He said the couple had been together for less than a year and their relationship was “a happy, healthy one”.
“They loved each other very much, and it’s just the sort of relationship that they wanted to have and they wanted the relationship to last,” he said.
“But this man decided he was going to take the lives of both of them.”
The man told police he was angry with his wife for having left him and she believed he was “going to destroy her life”.
Police said he was the “primary suspect” and they had launched an investigation into the death.
Det Supt Stacey thanked the community for their support and thanked police for their work in the case.
He urged anyone who had information on the case to contact Crime Stoppers.
